From the most “formal” of our services (Sunday Morning Worship) to our most “laid back” gathering (Thursday morning Bible study), without apology, we declare our textbook to be the holy Word of God. Only on the rarest of occasions is it not used as the primary source of information for our worship services. We believe in the creed of one of the psalmists: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psalm 119:105)”
The current economy is unpredictable, to say the least. For many, times are hard. Some things we can live without – but we have to eat! On the second and last Friday of each month from 1-3pm, our church opens the doors of her food pantry to those in need. For donation drop-off, please contact Trish at (727) 557-4061. We accept donated household items, furniture, food, and clothes.
Our coffeehouse offers “Open Mic” opportunities for anyone who would like to share their voice and/or talent with a great audience. We allow all genres of music, as well as spoken word. Our only requirement is to keep the content clean. We also provide Karaoke services as well. It’s a great family atmosphere, along with live music, free food, and great coffee. The doors open at 6 pm on the last Friday of each month.
Fewer people are marrying these days; those who do are waiting longer to get married, yet are more likely to divorce. Unfortunately, “church people” are apparently not immune to these statistics. Our church offers a free marriage enrichment class that has had profound results in the many places in which it has been used around the world.
The musical worship of our church is a well-blended mixture of old and new sounds. Classics including “Amazing Grace” and “Rock of Ages” are intertwined with some of the more current hits such as “My Chains Are Gone” and “Blessed Be the Name.” Traditional Jewish songs like “He Is Jehovah” are also on the list, as well as Black spiritual favorites such as “My Tribute.” Led in earnest by director Steve Smith, the music of our worship services is intended to point our hearts toward the Throne, and prepare them for God’s word.
We feel that those who pioneered for us in the past, and who “blazed a trail” for us to accomplish and achieve today, should be honored. The “Young at Heart” meet at 10:30am on the third Friday of each month for a time of faith, fellowship, fun, and of course, food.
The Lord Jesus Christ was (and is) ever a Lover of children. He hugged them, healed them, and raised them from the dead. He said, “Allow children to come to me, and forbid them not.” And He declared that child-like faith was essential to spirituality – even to salvation itself! We feel, therefore, that it is only natural that we love and teach the young people to whom we are blessed to minister, and we do so gladly. While we offer classes for all ages during our Sunday school hour, our main youth night is Wednesdays at 6:30pm.
